Taylor Alison Swift will be performing at this year’s MTV Video Music Awards.
MTV has announced the Pennsylvanian-born American singer-songwriter as the first confirmed performer for this year’s Video Music Awards. The outlet made the announcement on Wednesday, August 7th, 2019.
The pop star, whose last performance was in 2015, making it four years since she appeared on the MTV VMA’s stage, is returning this year. Although we don’t know yet which of her she will perform, we can, however, expect that selections from her seventh studio album, which releases three days prior, will factor into the set.

Taylor Swift, who is known for her narrative songs about her personal life, won four awards at her last performance, the former country singer’s ‘You Need To Calm Down’ has been nominated for Video of the Year alongside Ariana Grande’s “Thank U, Next”, Billie Eilish‘s “Bad Guy,” Lil Nas X and Billy Ray Cyrus‘ “Old Town Road,” 21 Savage and J. Cole‘s “A Lot,” and Jonas Brothers‘ “Sucker.” Swift is also nominated for Song of the Year, best visual effects and more.
This year’s MTV Video Music Awards will hold on August 26, 2019, broadcasting live from Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey, three days after Swift‘s highly anticipated album, “Lover” will be released.
Reports also have it that Swift will receive the first-ever ‘Icon Award’ at this year’s Teen Choice Awards.
