Taylor Swift to perform at this year’s MTV Video Music Awards

MTV has announced the Pennsylvanian-born American singer-songwriter as the first confirmed performer for this year’s Video Music Awards.  The outlet made the announcement on Wednesday, August 7th, 2019.

The pop star, whose last performance was in 2015, making it four years since she appeared on the ’s stage, is returning this year. Although we don’t know yet which of her she will perform, we can, however, expect that selections from her seventh studio album, which releases three days prior, will factor into the set.

, who is known for her narrative songs about her personal life, won four awards at her last performance, the former country singer’s ‘You Need To Calm Down’ has been nominated for Video of the Year alongside ’s “Thank U, Next”, Billie Eilish‘s “Bad Guy,” Lil Nas X and Billy Ray Cyrus‘ “Old Town Road,” 21 Savage and J. Cole‘s “A Lot,” and Jonas Brothers‘ “Sucker.” Swift is also nominated for Song of the Year, best visual effects and more.
