Congolese singer Ya Levis has just released the music video of his single “Penzi,” featuring Tanzania’s Diamond Platnumz. “Penzi” is one of the tracks in Ya Levis‘s studio project “El Mayalove,” released this year.
Ya Levis, also called Ya Levis Delwear, is one of those who discovered music at an early age – at 5 – and has been singing since. With a fine voice, it was inevitable he should attract attention. He quickly found a spot on “Les étoiles D’Africa,” a group in which his elder brother was involved.
Thereafter he had released his first single “Love-Olivia” and followed that up with “Shabanni.” His career had begun in earnest and there was no back-stepping. In 2013 MCP Group discovered him at a concert and became privy to the release of most of his tracks thereafter, including “Canoe Kayak.”
Besides singing, Ya Levis is also a fine dancer. It is not surprising, then, that he should pick another fine dancer for “Penzi:” Tanzania’s Diamond Platnumz, one of East Africa’s major voices and the mastermind, just recently, of “Kanyaga,” a song that is still making waves across East Africa. No, across the world.
The collaboration comes even as Diamond Platnumz defers his marriage to Tanasha Donna, because he wants to make it extra special, according to him. By the way, he had earlier accused Mr P (of now defunct P–Square) of sleeping with his ex wife Zari and even threatened to revenge. The world is watching.
