The name Stefflon Don’s is now a household name in the North American music scene. Prior to releasing her mixtape in 2018, the British performer featured on the XXL Freshmen List.
Her mixtape which featured some heavyweights in the American music scene including Popcaan, Sean Paul, DJ Khaled, Future, and more was titled SECURE. Since she made her formidable appearance, she’s remained on a firm feature run, working and releasing records with the likes of Idris Elba, Tory Lanez, rap queen Lil Kim whom she brought out at her recent show and songstress Mariah Carey. She seemingly made a record with Vybz Kartel and XXXTENTACION.
On “Don Walk,” Rymez samples one of TLC’s 1999 hit record titled “No Scrubs.” With Rymez in the booth reproducing the instrumental Stefflon flips the record into a hot, dancehall tune as she serves some smooth vocals. The manner in which Rymez turns the sample to a dancehall tune takes us back to those days when Vybz Kartel and Spice turns Ne-Yo’s “Miss Independent” instrumental into a totally brand new track on “Romping Shop.”
Keeping it 100% in her patios element, Stefflon Don dished out a dancehall feel, at the same time she sends an optimistic and inspiring message with the lyrics as an effort motivate listeners to desist from opposing each other and see their own positive potential.
