Call Berner’s track “Still Alive” an American affair or what you will. It is a track that brings together some of America’s fine rappers. The track itself is off Berner’s recently released project “EL Chivo.”
Born Gilbert Milam Jr in 1983, Berner is one of America’s better known musicians, with 16 albums and songs like “20 Joints,” “Ayy,” and “Smoke Box” to his credit,
Julius Dubose, who goes by the stage name A Boogie Wit Da Hoodie, was right on hand and spat out the chorus, more of a pendulum between love and hate, with apparent finesse.
For one who has charmed America for a long time with his verses, his splendid outing on this track is no surprise. Already, several songs stand him out, including “Drowning” “Look Back At It,” “Love Drugs and Sex,” “Voices in my Head” and “Swerving.”
G-Eazy, himself a celebrated America rapper, gave a poetic rendition of the last verse. The result is something that leaves you hungry for a re-enactment. Play the song on repeat and you will have the same experience but without getting bored.
G-Eazy, who has masterminded songs like “No Limit” and “I Mean It,” may be thought of as one with his talents.
Chevy Woods, who has been associated with rapper Wiz Khalifa, delivered splendidly, as did Wiz Khalifa. Ultimately “Still Alive” is one track that will probably make you lick your lips liked some sated gourmet – lyrically speaking.
